The Governance CSO Consortium, through the Center for Democratic Governance (CDG), has installed Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) signposts in key locations across Margibi County to improve public access to government services and strengthen political governance and accountability in Liberia.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
The initiative, part of the project \u201cStrengthening Political Governance and Accountability in Liberia,\u201d funded by the Government and people of Ireland via the Embassy of Ireland in Monrovia, aims to reduce the need for residents to travel to Monrovia for basic government services by informing them about the services available locally at the Margibi County Service Center.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
The project is implemented by CDG in partnership with Naymote Partners for Democratic Development and the Center for Transparency and Accountability in Liberia (CENTAL). Ms. Georgina C. Coker, Project Coordinator at CDG, explained that the IEC signposts serve as clear public guides to the 27 government services offered at the county level. \u201cThis initiative brings government closer to the people. By giving citizens visible, reliable access to information, we are narrowing the gap in public awareness, encouraging transparency, and promoting citizen empowerment,\u201d she said.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
The signposts have been placed in Kakata City, Marshall City, and Weala in Cinta Township. They list services such as marriage certificates, business registrations, birth registration, vehicle licensing, and labor inspections, among others.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
\u201cThese signposts demystify government processes, reduce confusion, improve service delivery, and most importantly, empower citizens with knowledge of their rights and entitlements,\u201d Ms. Coker added. The Consortium encourages residents to use the signs as tools for civic engagement and to hold service providers accountable. \u201cThese services are here for you, and the County Service Center exists to serve your needs,\u201d the Consortium stated.
